The residency is open to authors, either French citizens or those based in France for at least 5 years, who have published a minimum of two books and have a good command of the English language. It is open to all writing styles: fiction, nonfiction, screenwriting, playwriting, poetry, children’s literature, graphic novels etc. Applications are reviewed according to the quality of the proposed writing project and past published works, as well as the applicant’s public speaking skills and abilities to run workshops.
The selection panel includes prominent figures from New Zealand and French creative industries.
The residency provides accommodation in the Cottage for five months in the first half of 2025. Return airfares and a monthly stipend to cover living costs are included.
